This Friday, January 30th, DIY legend Nordista Freeze brings his traveling 80s party, Space Prom, to Charleston’s Music Farm, alongside a stacked lineup of Charleston’s most beloved local musicians. This marks the first-ever Space Prom in Charleston, and we’re very excited to be involved!
Speaking of the Farm, I’m pleased to announce that Extra Chill has officially partnered with the Music Farm to help spread the word about their new Farm Friends Subscription.
Farm Friends gives you access to every show at the Music Farm for just $54 per month. Considering tickets are $30 or more, this pays for itself in just two concerts. I know many of you attend a lot more than that.
To my Charleston friends: I’m excited to see you on Friday. I’ll be around for a couple of weeks, so feel free to hit me up.

More Extra Chill News
- In case you missed it, our Events Calendar recently dropped. We are now listing shows in Austin, Charleston, Savannah, Columbia, Greenville, and Athens. This is a great way to find out what’s happening if you live in these places! More cities coming soon.
- We will also soon open our Artist Merch Store, which is an Etsy-like marketplace for independent artists. Think of it like a festival merch booth. Artists will be responsible for managing their own stock and merchandise. We just provide the platform.
Extra Chill will continue evolving into more of a platform than a blog, without losing sight of our roots. The old model, where we just write articles and make enough money to survive, doesn’t work anymore, so we have to get creative. Or get a job. Maybe both.

Extra Chill App
The Extra Chill mobile app is currently in development. We are going to take the principles of the website and put it in your pocket. Think, you’re at a festival and you can snap a video and post it on Extra Chill just as easily as posting on Instagram.
The hard part will be getting people to use it. But that’s the challenge with everything. Just like artists would rather create than promote their music. I would rather create than promote, too!
I do think there’s a growing urge to step away from traditional social media. The platforms got too big and lost sight of what made them special. But everyone’s there because everyone else is there. The user base makes it sticky.
Post & Courier Best Music of 2025
I was asked to contribute to the Post & Courier’s Best of 2025 series this year, and I happily agreed. That includes: an interview with 2 Slices, and blurbs about several other bands including Austin’s Die Spitz, who (not surprisingly) blew up in 2025.
Cheers, and thanks for being a subscriber.
Until next time,
Chris Huber a.k.a. Chubes
